What's New for the 2018 Lincoln MKC?

The Lincoln MKC was introduced in 2015 and has made slight improvements since. In 2018 the principal improvements were in cabin audio quality and sitting comfort. Coming standard in all trims of the Lincoln MKC is Lincoln Connect-the Lincoln 4G Wifi hotspot software-which is added to all trims of the MKC. The driver gets an added seat feature with 4-way power control for lumbar comfort and support in the Premier trim, and both seats receive this standard upgrade in the Select trim and above.

Four Great Trims to Choose From

The 2018 Lincoln MKC is a luxury 5-passenger compact SUV with four trim levels. The Premier trim is the base model of the Lincoln MKC. Regardless, the Lincoln MKC comes with many standard features that are optional in competitive luxury models. Comfort is the mainstay of the Lincoln MKC. With that in mind, engineers added features like heated-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, a powered rear lift-gate, dual -zone climate control, and rear parking sensors for easy parallel parking. In-cabin technology features that come standard in the MKC but not in competitor vehicles include the unique Lincoln Sync 3 system interface with an 8-inch touchscreen, instant 4G Wi-Fi communication systems for both Apple and Android, and a 9-speaker audio system. These standard features The Select trim is a step above with finer leather features, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and an 8-way adjustable passenger seat. The Reserve steps up with a hands-free liftgate and an onboard modem. The Black Label adds extended leather features of higher quality, 19-inch wheels and adaptive suspension dampers for an elegant ride.

2018 Lincoln MKC ExteriorAll Lincoln MKC trims come standard with a 2.0 Liter Turbocharged engine that generates 245 horsepower at 550 rpm and 275 lb-ft. Torque at 3000 rpm. The engine receives 19/25/22 mpg city/highway/combined. An optional 2.3 Liter engine delivers 285 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 295 lb-ft. Torque at 3000 rpm. The Lincoln is not built for speed. Even the larger 2.3 Liter engine takes 7.2 seconds to reach 60 mph on a straight track. The lower acceleration properties contribute to the overall comfort of the vehicle and lessen noise levels.

Safety First

Front-Impact airbags for the driver and passenger protect the head from injury. Side-Impact bags in the front seats protect the torso. Overhead airbags protect the heads of occupants during a side-impact collision. Knee airbags protect the lower extremities from harm. An ABS brake system automatically senses when a tire has stopped moving while braking and adjusts the brake pressure to compensate. Lincoln MKC trims come with a Stability Control unit that senses when the vehicle exceeds its handling limits, established in exhaustive computer simulations, and reduces engine output or applies brake pressure to compensate and bring the vehicle under control.
